I am Assistant Professor of Health and Social Policy at the Faculty of Health Sciences and Medicine and co-director of the Center for Health, Policy and Economics (CHPE) at the University of Lucerne.
My research examines how health and social policy are shaped by politics, public opinion, inequality, and institutional change. I am particularly interested in health policy reform, the politics of rising healthcare costs, health inequalities, public service provision, and the political consequences of social and economic change.
My current work includes an SNSF-funded project on party politics and the politicisation of healthcare, research on public preferences for health policy trade-offs, hospital closures and voting behaviour, and projects on health workforce shortages, rehabilitation policy, and mental health. Beyond health policy, I also work on inequality, redistribution, technological change, electoral behaviour, and party competition in advanced democracies.
I teach health and social policy, health inequality and public policy, and health policy in Switzerland at bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral levels.
